Description . Superb wooden Baby Carrier from the Central desert Area of Australia. Australian Aboriginal babies were generall be carried in Coolamons (primarily used for food gathering) but occasionally were carried in especially made wooden or woven baby carriers and this is quite a large example. Included is a photo from the National Library of Australia of a piccaninni (baby) in a similar wooden carrier photographed in 1940.
