Description      .Gope or Spirit Boards have designs, with recognizable faces (Ancestor) and very stylized body parts and were used to house protective spirits. Gopes were made in a few different sizes, the largest being owned by the clan and stored out of sight in the men’s longhouses. This is a nice example with a great face in very good condition collected in the early 1950’s.
