Description      . A Woven Fiber, arrow-proof cuirass vest or body armor, meticulously woven from natural plant fibers and from Oksarpmin in the Telefomin area of the PNG Highlands, collected by a Patrol Officer in 1961. This type of armour allowed a warrior to hold & fire his bow at foes knowing his body was protected. Body armor such as this was later largely replaced by hand-held shields . Condition is very good. Rarely seen outside museums.
