Description Sacred Churinga Stone from Jay Creek in the Macdonnell Ranges and home to the Western Arrernte people of Central Australia. This stone was collected by a South Australia Museum Expedition to the area in the late 1940’s. The hole was later drilled to display stone. Generally Churinga refers to stone or wooden objects associated with the legends, chants, and ceremonies of the Australian Aboriginal people.
