Description . Bark Painting by famed artist Narritjin Maymuru (1916-1981) from Millingimbi, Central Arnhem Land. Subject Possum Story 1960s/1970s, natural earth pigments on eucalyptus bark. By the early 1960’s Narritjin Maymuru had become one of the most prolific and renowned Yolngu artists. After decades of work he and his son in 1979, became visiting artists at the Australian National University. He died of a heart attack in 1981. His time in Canberra became the subject of a documentary film by Ian Dunlop titled Narritjin in Canberra His works are displayed in many Australian Galleries and Museums.
