Description Highlands Huli tribe fighting pick which has a bone tip instead of the usual cassowary toe nail tip. The black palm head is carved and decorated in red natural ochre and has bush cane binding the head to the handle. The Huli did not carry axes but picks in their belts instead and these were used to strike a running enemy from behind as the pick would come over the shoulder into the chest or around the side into the belly. Collected in the early 1960’s.
