Description Watercolour by Therese Ryder (1946-) who was from the Eastern Arrente area. Her paintings are to be found in Flinders University Art Museum, Adelaide and the Museum of Victoria, Melbourne. In 1934 a Western Arrernte Aboriginal man by the name of Albert Namatjira inspired a school of artists which became known as the ‘Hermannsburg School’ with his paintings of his tribal lands. This was a major change in direction for Aboriginal Art which previously focused on symbols etc. The movement is characterised by watercolours of western-style landscapes that depict the striking colours of the Australian outback .
