Description .Superb example of the Ornamental Comb called ‘faa’ probably from the Kwaio people of Malaita Island in the Solomons. The wickerwork is fine coloured woven yellow orchard and dyed (red) coconut fibre traditionally woven in geometric designs using the wing bones of Flying Foxes (Fruit Bats) The decorated combs were only allowed to be worn by Solomon Island males. Truly a Museum piece and a similar example can be seen at the Australian Museum. Collected in 1924.
