Description .Carved Aboriginal shield which was collected in Western Australia by a Australian nurse working on an Aboriginal settlement in the 1960’s The shield is of a style typical of the southern part of West Australia and has raised carvings of sharks and turtles on the front and the rear features sawfish and dugong. These carvings are substantially raised above the surrounds and the shield also features the typical cross angle line inscribing also found on other Western Australian shields. A highly unusual shield.
